Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 Guatemala City Airport – Colonial City of Antigua
Arrival in Guatemala City, transfer to Antigua
You may explore the Antigua with its cobbled streets and ancient houses declared by UNESCO , Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Day 2 Antigua Guatemala (B)
Half day walking tour in Antigua, visiting the Cathedral, the main square, the Church of La Merced, the convent of Capuchinas, the Jade Factory and the Church of San Francisco. Then visit a coffee plantation and museum and the main towns surrounding Antigua.
Day 3 Antigua - Chichicastenango – Lake Atitlán (B)
In the morning we go to the Archaeological site of Iximché special because it was the first city in the times of the conquest of Guatemala then we are heading to Chichicastenango, famous for its outdoor market where the majority of artisans and merchants from northern Guatemala gather to sell their products at the end of the tour, transfer to Lake Atitlan to the village of Panajachel. Lodging in Panajachel village.
Day 4 Lake Atitlan (B, L)
In the morning tour begins across Lake Atitlan to the village of Santiago, we will see the Mayan God called "Maximón", which is still revered by generations of Mayan indigenous people of this town and the colorful street craft to descend back to the dock and return to Panajachel town and walk to the street of Santander. In the afternoon transfer to Guatemala City.
Day 5 Mayan City of Copán Archaeological Site (Honduras Country) (B)
Transfer to the colonial town of Copán through the border between Guatemala and Honduras. Just across is the colonial town and the ruins of Copán. Visit the archaeological site of Copan, this was an advanced development center sculpture, astronomy and hieroglyphic writing.
Day 6 Quiriguá Archaeological Site Guatemala (B,L)
At the morning transfer to Quiriguá Izabal (Guatemala) and visit UNESCO declared Heritage of Humanity, this place is famous for its carved stone stelae of 30 feet tall, the largest in the Mayan world. After this we go to the tropical town of Rio Dúlce, and boat trip from Rio Dúlce through the central canyon to reach the Garifuna village of Livingston to the Atlantic Ocean. Have time to walk around this town and take a bath on the beach.
Day 7 Livingston – Flores (B,L)
At the afternoon we return to Rio Dulce and leave to Flores Island which is near the Mayan ruins of Yaxhá and Tikal. This is the main town of El Petén province. Have free time to explore this charming town.
Day 8 Flores – Yaxhá – Ixpanpajul (B,D)
Visit the archaeological site where you can appreciate Yaxhá the main temples and beautiful scenery that has to offer this magnificent place, then in the afternoon continue to the ecological park Ixpanpajul where you can choose a long walk on suspension bridges that lead you into the rainforest or you can get in the way only surprised with the speed and adrenaline experience to fall further after touching the mainland on the zip line, at the end we are going to a safari for the sole purpose of knowing all the nocturnal activity of the wild life of this great expedition.
Day 9 Tikal (B,L)
In the morning transfer to Tikal to see the great pyramids of the most important city of the Mayan World, Tikal is the largest excavated archaeological site in the Americas, and contains some of the most important archaeological sites in the Mayan civilization, as they had with extensive knowledge in mathematics, astronomy, agriculture, art and religion. It occupied a prominent position among several cities, being independent for more than a thousand years. At the end of the tour in Tikal you have lunch and then go back to Guatemala City by plane at night.
Day 10 Guatemala City Airport (B)
Brief farewell meeting
End of Tour and Transfer to the airport according to flight schedule. Thanks for join Expressway Traveling!
Transfer from your hotel to the International Airport 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic of the city.
